Robin Allender is a Bristol-based singer-songwriter and guitarist. His fingerpicked, melodic folk has been compared to Elliott Smith, Bill Callahan and Jim O’Rourke. His debut album, The Bird and the Word, was released on Dreamboat Records in July 2007.
Since then Allender has formed a band to help flesh out his solo material. The Allender Band is made up of Alex Wilkins on guitar, Sam Tarbuck on bass and Dave Collingwood on drums. The band released their debut EP, In the Grip of Light, in May 2008. Their first album, Outer Dark, will be released on Dreamboat Records on 16th March, 2009.
Since recording the album, Dave Collingwood has left the band, to be replaced by Sean Talbot.
Allender, Wilkins and Collingwood previously played in Gravenhurst (Warp Records).

- Factfans.co.uk
- One of the most talented guitarists in the country, his hypnotic playing accompanies equally infectious lyrics.
- Theo Berry, The Fly
- Let's be honest, bands can be greater than the sum of their parts, but solo acts either have it or they don't. Robin has it in spades.
- Amy, Shake Your Fist
- After a listen or two to a memorable Inconsolable track like The School Field, I think you, like me, will find yourself humming it while brushing your teeth or waiting for the bus.
- Lou Trimby, Choke Magazine (Bristol)
- There is a warmth and fuzziness about Robin Allender's solo work which is immensely appealing. A superb guitarist, he finger-picks gorgeous melodies which donŐt fail to grip the listener.
- Sean Michaels, Said the Gramophone
- We, Emmanuel Light, Love Ocean is one of those instrumentals of such circular sadness that you could curl up with it and spend an afternoon of melancholy
