Beast In Peace (The Hundred In The Hands Beast In Beat Remix)
We’ve known Jason from around Brooklyn for years and from his days in the Boggs. Always thought he was super talented, and we love what we’ve heard of Hundred In The Hands so it made perfect sense.
Lovesick Teenagers (Twin Shadow Remix)
George wanted to take a shot at a remix for us, of course we said yes. What he gave us was one of the most inventive and fun remixes of Lovesick Teenagers, so that’s how it won it’s slot on this disc.
Ultimate Satisfaction (The Field Remix)
Axel wrote us on myspace expressing his admiration for the band. Twas a real “holy sh*t!” moment for Bear In Heaven, as we are massive fans. We asked him to do a remix, he obliged and whipped up this masterpiece in no time.
Wholehearted Mess (Pink Skull Remix)
Pink Skull might be one of the most underrated bands in North America. We were put in touch via their label RVNG, they kicked out this minimal banger. So good. We got to play a show with them last year in Philly, and they absolutely floored us.
Fake Out (Brahms Remix)
Confidential!
Drug A Wheel (High Places Remix)
We’ve been fans of High Places before their first record, as we discovered them on myspace a few years ago. This year we shared a couple of bills with them and found out that they’re the sweetest and funniest people around. Was really natural to ask them to do a remix, and to hear Mary repeat the mantra “Look at your fire and not smoke” is a joy.
Deafening Love (Deru Remix)
This mix came to us unsolicited, and oh my lord, did Deru blow this out. In my mind, this might have been the hardest track to remix on the record, and it turned out fantastically. `The bass on this track sounds like 10 King Tubby sound systems stacked on each other. Love it.
Dust Cloud (Justin K. Broadrick Remix)
Big fans of all of Justin’s projects and we threw his name out as a long shot, and he agreed! I think he chose the perfect song to remix, as it now sounds just like a Jesu track with Jon singing on it. Perfectly epic in every way.
You Do You (Studio Remix)
Studio’s song “Life’s a Beach” is enough to make anyone a fan, so we sent them an email and they were down. This is a fun one.
Casual Goodbye (Epstein’s Galloping Gertie Remix)
Roberto Carlos Lange is one of our best friends. All of his musical ventures are top notch (ROM, Epstein, Helado Negro, etc) the man is a genius. Roberto actually mixed BRFM so we were surprised how eager he was to jump back in and remix a track. The results are trippy and meditative and proof of Roberto’s effortless perfection.
